Ignorant Question

I have 2 BTC's on Coinbase. I understand they can go bankrupt or something can happen and I would end up losing my precious 2 BTC's. How can I prevent that?

The next XVG? Microcap 100x potential actually supported by fundamentals!

What’s up team? I have a hot one for you. XVG returned 12 million percent in 2017 and this one reminds me a lot of it. Here’s why:
Mimblewimble is like Blu-Ray compared to CD-ROM in terms of its ability to compress data on a blockchain. The current BTC chain is 277gb and its capacity is limited because every time you spend a coin, each node needs to validate its history back to when it was mined (this is how double spending is prevented). Mimblewimble is different - all transactions in a block are aggregated and netted out in one giant CoinJoin, and only the current spending needs to be verified. This means that dramatically more transactions can fit into a smaller space, increasing throughput and lowering fees while still retaining the full proof of work game theory of Bitcoin. These blockchains are small enough to run a full node on a cheap smartphone, which enhances the decentralization and censorship resistance of the network.
The biggest benefit, though, is that all transactions are private - the blockchain doesn’t reveal amounts or addresses except to the actual wallet owner. Unlike earlier decoy-based approaches that bloat the chain and can still be data mined (XMR), Mimblewimble leaves no trace in the blockchain, instead storing only the present state of coin ownership.
The first two Mimblewimble coins, Grin and Beam, launched to great fanfare in 2019, quickly reaching over $100m in market cap (since settled down to $22m and $26m respectively). They are good projects but grin has infinite supply and huge never-decreasing emission, and Beam is a corporate moneygrab whose founding investors are counting on you buying for their ROI.
ZEC is valued at $568m today, despite the facts that only 1% of transactions are actually shielded, it has a trusted setup, and generating a confidential transaction takes ~60 seconds on a powerful PC. XMR is a great project but it’s valued at $1.2b (so no 100x) and it uses CryptoNote, which is 2014 tech that relies on a decoy-based approach that could be vulnerable to more powerful computers in the future. Mimblewimble is just a better way to approach privacy because there is simply no data recorded in the blockchain for companies to surveil.
Privacy is not just for darknet markets, porn, money launderers and terrorists. In many countries it’s dangerous to be wealthy, and there are all kinds of problems with having your spending data be out there publicly and permanently for all to see. Namely, companies like Amazon are patenting approaches to identify people with their crypto addresses, “for law enforcement” but also so that, just like credit cards, your spending data can be used to target ads. (A) Coinbase is selling user data to the DEA, IRS, FBI, Secret Service, and who knows who else? (B) What about insurance companies raising your premiums or canceling your policy because they see you buying (legal) cannabis? If your business operates using transparent cryptocurrency, competitors can data mine your customer and supply chain data, and employees can see how much everyone else gets paid. I could go on, but the idea of “I have nothing to hide, so what do I care about privacy?” will increasingly ring hollow as people realize that this money printing will have to be paid by massive tax increases AND that those taxes will be directly debited from their “Central Bank Digital Currency” wallets.
100% privacy for all transactions also eliminates one HUGE problem that people aren’t aware of yet, but they will be: fungibility. Fungibility means that each coin is indistinguishable from any other, just like paper cash. Why is this important? Because of the ever-expanding reach of AML/KYC/KYT (Anti-Money Laundering / Know Your Customer / Know Your Transaction) as regulators cramp down on crypto and banks take over, increasingly coins become “tainted” in various ways. For example, if you withdraw coins to a mixing service like Wasabi or Samourai, you may find your account blocked. (C) The next obvious step is that if you receive coins that these chainalysis services don’t like for whatever reason, you will be completely innocent yet forced to prove that you didn’t know that the coins you bought were up to no good in a past life. 3 days ago, $100k of USDC was frozen. (D) Even smaller coins like LTC now have this problem, because “Chinese Drug Kingpins” used them. (E) I believe that censorable money that can be blocked/frozen isn’t really “your money”.
Epic Cash is a 100% volunteer community project (like XVG and XMR) that had a fair launch in September last year with no ICO and no premine. There are very few projects like this, and it’s a key ingredient in Verge’s success (still at $110m market cap today despite being down 97% since the bubble peak) and why it’s still around. It has a small but super passionate community of “Freemen” who are united by a belief in the sound money economics of Bitcoin Standard emission (21m supply limit and ever-decreasing inflation) and the importance of privacy.
I am super bullish on this coin for the following reasons:
Because it doesn’t have a huge marketing budget in a sea of VC-funded shitcoins, it is as-yet undiscovered, which is why it’s so cheap. There are only 4 Mimblewimble-based currencies on the market: MWC at $162m, BEAM at $26m, GRIN at $22m, and EPIC at $0.4m. This is not financial advice and as always, do your own research, but I’ve been buying this gem for months and will continue to.
This one ticks all the boxes for me, the only real problem is that it’s hard to buy much without causing a huge green candle. Alt season is coming, and coins like this are how your neighbor Chad got his Lambo back in 2017. For 2021, McLaren is a better choice and be sure to pay cash so that it doesn’t get repossessed like Chad!

PSA: How to use crypto to sell/buy PMs on r/PMsForSale

TL;DR 1: this is not an investment recommendation. This is not an endorsement of any crypto coin, token, or service. This post (which is a bit longish) describes how to use crypto as another payment mechanism. It would just add another tool to your PM trading toolbox.
TL;DR 2: This is not an exhaustive review – it’s a simplified how-to. Calling me out on certain minute aspects is useless. However, if I made a mistake, or omitted something important PLEAESE correct me.
TL;DR 3: I’ll describe everything in chapters, so as you go down, if you feel this is irrelevant to you, you can stop without spending too much time reading it all.

Chapter 1: Why use crypto

  1. You control the entire transaction, end to end. You do not need a third party (Like PayPal or Google) telling you what you’re allowed to sell, and for how much. You do not need to resort to subterfuge (“use Friends & Family, and make sure to leave no notes!”).
  2. Crypto transactions add a level of privacy (depending on how you use them).
  3. Transactions are secure (read more about blockchain technology), and usually only involve you sharing your crypto address with your counterpart.
  4. Transactions are irreversible – good if you’re an established seller who’s afraid of chargebacks by scammers.
  5. Yet transactions can still be proven – they’re out there on the blockchain, available for all to see.
  6. Most of the time, transactions are fast (depending on network traffic and amount of gas paid).

Chapter 2: Types of crypto

I’m not going to go into technicalities, and definitely not recommend anything. Let’s just split the crypto world right now into 2 types of coins: stable, and unstable.
  1. Unstable coins (Bitcoin, Ether, Ripple etc.) can see their fiat value go up or down several times a minute. They’re volatile, and while they can be used to pay, the buyer and seller need to agree on the spot, convert fiat to the coin and start the transaction – at the end of which, the fiat value received may be higher or lower than when the transfer started. Because of that, I’ll avoid discussing them here.
  2. Stable coins usually run on the Ethereum blockchain, and use a technology called “smart contract” to attach their value to fiat. A stable coin like USDC, DAI, USDT etc. will always be worth $1 (give or take 1% at certain times). For all intents and purposes, if I quote you a price of $250 and you send me 250 USDC – we’re done.

Chapter 3: what do I need to have to trade in stable coins?

  1. An address – your crypto address allows you to control crypto on the blockchain. More specifically, it allows you to withdraw funds (since everyone can deposit to your address, whether you want it or not).
  2. A crypto wallet. A wallet is NOT where you hold your coins! Your “money” is on the blockchain, assigned to your address. Your wallet allows you to mange the coins in that address. You can either use one of the free wallets out there, or have one provided to you by an exchange. I recommend MetaMask. It runs as a browser extension (Chrome, Firefox, Brave) or a mobile app. Make sure you do your due diligence before selecting a wallet, so you wont use a scammy app, that will use your pass phrase to clean up your address!
  3. Some Ether (usually 0.05-0.1 ether is enough for several transactions) – every transfer on the blockchain has a fee, representing compensation for the computer work done to transfer funds from address to address. This fee, known as “gas” can go from fractions of a cent to several dollars – depending on the blockchain traffic at the time. You can control the amount of gas, and price of gas for your transactions, but generally speaking: the less you pay, the slower the transfer. Gas is paid in Ether only, so you need some in your wallet (see below on how to get it).
  4. If you want to sell using crypto – you’re done!
  5. If you want to buy using Crypto, you’ll need to convert some fiat to stable coins – see next chapter.

Chapter 4: Quickest way to get stable coins

The easiest way to start (in the US – your miles/kilometres may vary elsewhere) is to open a Coinbase account.
(Disclaimer: you can choose any other exchange. I’m not compensated by Coinbase, I have no stake in Coinbase, I don’t work there, or know anyone who does. There’s a reason I mention them: they make this simple.)
While Coinbase is the fastest and easiest way to go for noobs, there are some caveats:
  1. Coinbase is a registered financial company. They require full KYC (i.e. photo of your driver’s license). Everything you do gets reported to the IRS, authorities, etc. But then, your bank does the same.
  2. Coinbase doesn’t care where the funds come and go – unless law enforcement, IRS, SEC etc tell them to care. If you’re privacy-oriented, an exchange is not for you, go to the next chapter.

Let’s look at the steps of using Coinbase, and how much they’ll cost you:

  1. Open Coinbase account (free)
  2. Go through KYC needed to connect a bank account to your Coinbase account (free)
  3. Transfer fiat to your account (free if bank transfer, otherwise credit/debit card fee applies)
  4. Convert fiat to the stable coin USDC (FREE! Since Coinbase “owns” USDC, they don’t charge anything to convert back and forth between USD and USDC. And it’s always 1-1 conversion.)
  5. Transfer USDC to an external wallet (yours, or a sellers) (FREE! Again, another perk – Coinbase pays your transfer gas fee).
  6. If you’re content with using Coinbase as your wallet, you are done!
a. When you want to buy, you ask the seller for his address, and transfer USDC to him (free).
b. When you want to sell, you give the user your Coinbase USDC address and he sends there (free again).
c. Make sure you send the right address – there are no backsies in crypto!!!

Using your own wallet:

  1. Install MetaMask. Follow instructions to create your address. Make sure you keep the pass phrase safe (NOT ON YOUR COMPUTER).
  2. Go through steps 1-5 to convert some fiat to USDC for free.
  3. Buy some ether – Currently Ether spot is about $230, meaning it’ll cost you about $10-20 to get some Ether + whatever fee Coinbase has on trading.
  4. Send the USDC to your new address.
  5. Send the Ether to your new address.
  6. You are now good to send and receive payments!
  7. When you receive USDC from a buyer, you can either keep them in your wallet for further use, or send to Coinbase, convert to fiat and send to your bank account. Always remember: on Coinbase 1 USDC == $1.

Chapter 5: Doing it on your own – for advanced users only

If you don’t like sharing all your info with Coinbase, you can definitely just install your own wallet (MetaMask is still the best option, IMHO, but there are many more), and fund it personally.
The biggest challenge you’ll face is: how do I convert fiat to crypto? Here are some options:
  1. The easiest: get someone to sell you some. Someone who already went through the whole process, and will agree to give you some crypto. Once you have crypto, you can easily convert it to any other crypto, without using any exchange, using crypto swap apps.
  2. The more expansive: use a service like Changelly (and there are others – again: I have no stake) to “buy” crypto. Take into account that they have fees. There are also services (like LocalBitcoins) that will allow you to buy directly from other people, for lower fees.
  3. You can use a different exchange, perhaps even one in a different country. Take into account that you’ll need to get actual money there, so at one point, someone will know something about you.
As said, once you have ANY crypto in your wallet, it’s easy to convert it to stable coins, Ether, or everything else you need.

Summary

I tried covering the basics of using crypto for payment. I did my best to avoid techy aspects and jargon.
Crypto is here to stay. Next (and current) generations will use it, like we’re using credit cards and PayPal. It will have no “magic” or “hoax” attached to it. It’s not “good” or “bad” – it’s just another way to convey value.
I was taught all this by someone. I’m sharing this with you now, in the hope you’ll share it with other people. That’s how knowledge grows.
If anyone wants any clarification, or expansion on any item, feel free to comment below, or reach out to me.

Air-gapped z-addresses; Is ZecWallet an option?

I've heard of Zcash for a while, but it wasn't until recently that I tried my hand playing around with the daemon and wallets.
Obviously, there's no point in using ZEC if you're only using t-addresses, but my desire for a z-address capable wallet certainly narrows the choice of wallets available to me.
Running a full node is no problem for me; I'd like to take advantage of a GUI if possible though. For that reason, I am drawn to ZecWallet's full node version. But I'm still uneasy when it comes to key security. (Can anyone share their experience with the ZecWallet paper wallet generator?)
From what I gather there is no wallet with HD support for t-addresses, is that right? Not much of a concern for me because I am interested in the shielded pool. I just figured t-addresses would support Electrum-style seeds but apparently not?
Sapling addresses seem to be exactly what I want; in particular I am drawn to their reusability and ability to export the view key. I was hoping this would ease the process of securing and backing up my private keys.
Here's my key handling protocol I use for Monero:
1) Generate the wallet on an air-gapped machine
2) This gives you a mnemonic seed. I write that down and keep it as an analog backup. By using a passphrase in conjunction with the seed, I can effectively encrypt this paper wallet easily.
3) Export the private view key and address to an online machine and make a watch-only wallet. This lets my watching wallet see incoming transactions
4) When outputs are received, I have to export the list of outputs to the air-gapped machine. The air-gapped machine uses this data to make signed key images.
5) I export the key images back to the watching wallet. At this point, the watching wallet can see outgoing transactions.
6) Now I can create unsigned transactions with the watching wallet, sign them in the air-gapped machine, and transmit them via the watching wallet using my full node.
The major benefit of using Monero in this way is that I only have to make a human-readable backup of my wallet once and I'm set for life.
Obviously, Zcash is going to be a little bit different. Since the core client doesn't give us mnemonic seed phrases, that complicates backup a little bit. What's the best way to back up ZEC? If I keep an up-to-date backup of my wallet.dat is that all I need? Is there an option in the wallet to encrypt this backup as well, or do I need to accomplish that externally with the likes of Veracrypt? I must admit the idea of unencrypted wallet data being written to my disk makes me uneasy.
I see that there is an option in zcash-cli to import/export the view key of Sapling addresses. However, I can't see the option to do so in ZecWallet, and when I do so manually via the CLI nothing seems to be reflected in ZecWallet.
Is ZecWallet by its very nature an obligatory hot wallet, or am I missing some functionality in the wallet?
My end goal is to run a ZEC full node on Qubes and hold my coins in z-addresses. Qubes allows me to make virtually air-gapped VMs to greatly simplify key management.
So for example when I use Bitcoin, I have a networked VM that runs a Bitcoind + Electrum Personal Server + Electrum Wallet stack, where I import my master public key. When I need to sign a transaction, I spin up a networkless VM equipped with Electrum and my private keys. Qrexec let's me easily ferry unsigned/signed transactions back and forth between the two VMs. Overall this provides a decent UX with above-average security and privacy. I'd like to port this general setup to Zcash.
To do so, I need a GUI wallet that supports both z-addresses and public/private key splitting. Does such a tool exist? (Can Electrum Personal Server be ported to ZEC?) If not, how can I streamline this process with the CLI?
I'm more familiar with Monero than Bitcoin, so the Zcash/Bitcoin CLIs are still a little foreign to me, though I am not "afraid" of CLI wallets in general. My Cryptonote muscle memory makes me prone to annoying little syntax errors I'd much rather do without.
My plan is to buy ZEC from Coinbase Pro, withdraw to a t-address, and then sweep my coins to a z-address. I want to monitor the balance of both t-addresses and z-addresses (and later send transactions) without ever exposing my private keys to the Internet.
However, it seems like the Zcash CLI is my only viable option for z-address watching wallets. Should I just play around on testnet until I get more familiar, or is there a GUI wallet solution out there that fits my needs? Does anyone have a cheat sheet for doing this via the CLI that could help me along the learning curve?
TL;DR New to Zcash, need advice as it relates to wallet backup, watching wallets, and z-addresses.
Assistance is much appreciated!
Edit: I don't suppose there's a way to use a Trezor Model T with a full node and or z-addresses?

whitelisting withdrawal question

So i'm looking to withdraw a bit of bitcoin from blodkfi to my ledger nano x. But, the ledger receiving address that i've whitelisted on blockfi is different from the new address I see on my ledger. I know that ledger generates an new address for each withdrawal. My question is: do i need to update the address on blockfi?

Best Bitcoin Faucets

Best Bitcoin Faucets
Bitcoin faucets are websites or applications that offer you a small amount of bitcoin as a reward for making easy tasks. Depending on the selected faucet, users can earn coins for completing various tasks, such as viewing certain websites, watching ads, entering a captcha, or playing a game.
by StealthEX
At the beginning of the cryptocurrency’s existence, when the stakes were not so high, the creators of faucets gave 5 bitcoins for each claim — back then it was their way to promote digital money among newcomers. Now faucets operate with much smaller amounts and give out some part of the Bitcoin, which is measured in Satoshi(named after the creator of Bitcoin). Satoshi is the smallest possible fractional number of Bitcoin — one BTC is equal to 100 million Satoshi.
If you have ever left a water tap not completely closed, you probably noticed that water was dripping into it, and if you put a bowl under it, sooner or later it will be filled. Even though one-time payments on faucets are scanty, many advise not to neglect the opportunity to earn on them, because, with the right approach, faucets can bring a tangible profit with a minimum of effort.
There are plenty of sites offering free bitcoins. Unfortunately, most of them are not trustworthy, do not live long, or are simply overflowed with annoying flashing ads. However, there are some that work for many years, used by thousands of users and considered reliable.
Here is the list of them:

Freebitcoin

This faucet is probably the most well-known one. It was created in 2013 on the territory of the British Virgin Islands. Payouts are not fixed and vary for each claim. You can get cryptocurrency every hour, and for each claim you get from 0.00000030 to 0.03 BTC. In addition to the faucet, Freebitcoin allows you to earn in other ways — save interest on your deposit, play the lottery, invite new users via referral links.
It supports several withdrawal methods: you can set up automatic withdrawal every Sunday, slow withdrawal every 6–24 hours, or use the fastest instant withdrawal that takes 15 minutes. The last one, of course, has the highest fee.

Moon Bitcoin

Founded in 2015, the Moon Bitcoin has a certain user base and is considered by many to be one of the best faucets in existence.
There are many appealing bonus offers. For example, the site gives you a reward for consistency — if you enter a captcha at least once every day, you will accumulate a bonus +1% to earnings daily. Like most other faucets, Moon Bitcoin offers a bonus for bringing new users.
Earned funds are instantly transferred to the linked Coinpot wallet. The minimum withdrawal amount is 10,000 Satoshi if you agree to pay the fee. Or wait until it’s going to be over 50,000 Satoshi on your account and withdrawal money for free. It is worth saying that Coinpot has its own bonus program. For example, for one captcha entry, you get 3 Coinpot tokens that can also be converted to cryptocurrency.
There are also Moon faucets for Litecoin, Dash, Bitcoin Cash and DogeCoin. All payments are concentrated in one Coinpot account.

Bonus Bitcoin

Bonus Bitcoin is one of the oldest services and is considered one of the best bitcoin faucets. You can request a new portion of free coins every 15 minutes, getting an average of 10 Satoshi per claim. You can also gain more coins completing tasks in the offers and surveys section.
Users who regularly stay active for a number of days receive an additional 5% of their daily rewards. The site also gives 50% of all fees of users you invited using referral links.
Bonus Bitcoin accounts are also connected to Coinpot, a micro-earnings wallet that accumulates your payouts. The site also provides the opportunity to earn Litecoin and Dogecoin.

Bitfun

This is one more faucet associated with Coinpot wallet. Bitfun started its work in January 2017. In addition to the faucet itself, which allows you to request free Satoshi every 3 minutes, the site has a large number of browser games of various genres. Progress in these games gives you additional earnings. You can also earn coins by completing offers.
As with Bonus Bitcoin, the user receives 50% of the fees of their referrals.

Cointiply

The service was launched in 2018 and has become known as one of the best free bitcoin generators. There are several ways to claim Satoshi. In addition to the faucet, you can also earn bitcoins by watching videos, clicking on ads, and playing browser games.
Here you can make claims once every 12 hours and get a certain number of Coins to your account. Coins are the inner currency of this service, 10000 Coins worth 1$. It converted to Satoshi at the time of withdrawal.
Rewards can be collected at FaucetHub, another web wallet for micropayments, in this case, the withdrawal limit is 35,000 Coins. For amounts over 100,000 Coins, withdrawals can be made directly to your bitcoin wallet. Or you can keep Coins at the site and earn 5% interest.
Users can earn a loyalty bonus, by claiming rewards every day. Bringing another user via referral link gives you 25% of their claims and 10% of their offer earnings.

Pentafaucet

PentaFaucet is one of the oldest and most stable bitcoin faucets today. The main difference from similar websites is that the site uses double protection: captcha and anti-bot. You can collect from 5 to 25 Satoshi every 5 minutes. A reasonable amount of advertising and a simple interface make working with the faucet comfortable.
The faucet does not allow you to earn money from games, surveys, and other sponsorship services. In addition to the main method, it offers only a referral program, giving 10% from earnings of each new user.
Earned Satoshi are instantly transferred to the FaucetHub wallet. You can withdraw your funds from FaucetHub to your bitcoin wallet once a week on Sundays.

FireFaucet

FireFaucet is a multi-currency automatic faucet, perhaps the best of its kind. This resource allows you to earn 9 cryptocurrencies at the same time, as well as instantly withdraw the accumulated funds to the Faucet Hub.
The Auto Claim function allows for collecting currency automatically. You can change the number of currencies to get and the time between collections.
FireFaucet affords many different ways to earn money: in addition to the faucet itself, there are also offers, a referral system that gives 20% from newcomer’s income, and browser mining. FireFaucet also has its own unique level system: getting XP for various actions on the site and raising their level, users receive a reward in Satoshi.
As a pleasant addition, FireFaucet has a nice-looking design and does not use pop-up ads.

DailyFreeBits

This bitcoin faucet does not require registration. All you need is the public address of your BTC wallet. Users can claim Satoshi every hour, getting from 5 to 1200 each time.
At the moment DailyFreeBits is using the FaucetHub wallet we are already familiar with. The resource offers a referral reward. By inviting new users to the website, you can regularly receive 10% of their earnings.
These are probably the best bitcoin faucets at this point. Do not expect that you will earn loads of money just using faucets, but it is with no doubt an interesting and easy way to get a certain portion of free Satoshi and learn how the cryptocurrency and various wallets work.
Always be careful and study every site that is claimed to be a Bitcoin faucet with some scepticism. Always be critical of your choice and read reviews.

In order for two parties to facilitate a transaction, they need to exchange the deposit address. However, as there is no current end-to-end security protocol for the address exchange, hackers can target the procedure at any number of points along the way. Such methods include: • Spoofing the address while copy and pasting between the web browser and the wallet’s app. • Hijacking javascript(s) on the exchange’s website and spoofing the address at the origin. • Malicious chrome plugins that hijack the web browser (man-in-the-browser). • Malware that hijacks the wallet interface or driver. Credentials and API Keys Currently, each exchange and liquidity provider requires a set of credentials (username and password) in order to gain access. In addition, API-keys can be generated for automated access to the platforms. These credentials are particularly vulnerable to many traditional forms of malware such as keylogging and phishing. API-keys stored in trading software can be harvested if the server or code repository is compromised. Once a hacker obtains elevated credentials or API-keys they could: • Instruct unauthorized withdrawal of funds from an exchange. • Manipulate the market using pre-funded assets on a compromised account.

Celo technical review

Introduction Celo Technical Review: What Celo Wants to Achieve? Celo’s main motive is to make their crypto currency as a platform of payments. These are some of the problems faced in the crypto industry now: - Existing crypto currencies like Bitcoin are not used as payment platforms as they are considered store of value due to their deflationary nature. - Crypto in itself is very difficult with bad UIs and very difficult for the users to manage their keys and they require the public key of the user whom they want to send payment. - There is no concrete governance structure in crypto currencies. Celo wants to eliminate the above problems by following methods: - They are proposing to introduce a stable coin with elastic supply backed by variable reserves - They are using Address Based encryption to make ease of use of payments - They are introducing Governance structure at different levels. What is Address Based Encryption? Address Based Encryption is a novel approach of enabling the user to use their phone number or email address as a secure way of messaging. Users generate traditional ways of public / private key and encrypt their public key with their phone number, so they can use their phone number to send / receive Celo money. This encrypted value will be stored in a database and committed by the validator. This is what Celo is mainly pitching to reduce the dependency on people to use their public keys while transferring payment to reduce user onboarding. All one has to do is a one-time setup and then you can use your phone number as an address for sending payments! As simple as that! This is what Celo is hoping to achieve. Although this model does bring its own set up of problems, Celo addressed these issues and how they plan to resolve these in their white paper. We have some queries on these approaches which we will address at the end of this review. What is Elastic Coin Supply? Celo has two assets, Celo Gold and Celo Dollar. - Celo Dollar which will be the stablecoin. Celo Dollar will be elastic in nature as it will be freshly minted if the price goes above the peg. - Celo Gold is the utility token of the blockchain. Celo Gold will be used for governance, staking and as an incentive for developers which will be put in reserve. Celo Governance Since Celo uses Proof of Stake, Celo Gold will be used for staking and also for any governance decision making. This will be done by sending the Celo Gold tokens to a smart contract with a withdrawal notice set for a duration. White Paper Summary Overall, a good paper presented well. The value of Celo Gold will depend upon the usability of the Celo platform. Perhaps, something to learn from ETH where the value of ETH has risen because one can build various tokens on the ETH network. Questions for Celo Team (White Paper) - For the Address based encryption, it is mentioned that validators will be used to attest the signatures. * Our Question(s): How many validators will be used and what's the slashable criteria for the validators? - For mitigating the DDOS, a cost to attestation is required, which basically means users sending out a fee for attestation. * Our Question(s): Wouldn't this hamper a new user, as he has to pay a fee just for registering his key? Also, what is the time overhead required for the validators to verify and attest the message? - Regarding the Elastic Coin Supply, it is mentioned that when the Celo Dollar price is above peg, new coins will be minted and instead of distributing them to the user, they will be used to buy various other crypto-assets and sell them when required. * Our Question(s): What are the assets that will be bought is not cleamentioned and weI really think this is not a good method as we know the value of crypto assets might decay over a period of time. Any thoughts on that? Also, who will cover for that if net value ends up as loss? - Also, to be elected validator, it was mentioned that the users can form groups and pitch themselves to be validators. * Our Question(s): Wouldn't this make the protocol more centralized, something akin to a DPOS system? Other Question(s): - What are the criteria of slashing funds of a validator? - What about storage problems, since they are forking ETH, wouldn't they inherit the same problems ETH has with respect to speed and storage overhead? - To make any technical improvements, anybody can make a bonded deposit and validators can vote on that. But wouldn't this pave way to the incorrect technical improvements to be made and also will the deposit be slashed if there is incorrect spec on the improvement submitted by the developer? - What will be the function of a smart contract platform in addition to the bonded deposits and attestation of messages?
Celo Code Review Celo Repositories and Blockchain: Celo has 69 repositories. Initial observations are that Celo blockchain is a fork / copy of GETH with some modifications. Key Modifications: - Addition of BLS signatures - Addition of Istanbul-BFT consensus in place of POW - Introduction of Celo Gold Tokens BLS Signatures: A simple explanation is that BLS Signatures offer a better way of aggregating signatures and reducing the storage in blocks. However, verification of these signatures still takes time. IBFT Consensus - Istanbul BFT consensus: A simple explanation of IBFT Consensus is that it is modified PBFT which is most suitable for permissioned networks. This consensus works well with a smaller set of validators and is fast and also offers safety for up to 2/3 of the dishonest nodes. Celo Gold Tokens: Celo Gold Tokens is a native token of Celo Blockchain, just like ETH for ethereum blockchain. Having reviewed all the repositories, we feel that there are a lot of other repos which have most of the code they have mentioned in the white paper, like Governance, Slashing, Stable Coin etc. Overall, all the other reports are well maintained. We don’t see any major red flags in their repositories. Questions for Celo Team (Code): - Our only observation is that we are still unable to understand why they would be needing a separate blockchain to carry out all aforementioned functions. Can't they use PoA network, which is similar to their blockchain, and they can still add the aforementioned functions or better be as a sidechain to ETH?
- What's the reason for forking ETH? - What’s the Unique Selling point for Celo in the midst of several stable currencies, are we relying only on the one point of ease of access? Should I invest in Celo or not? The Matrix's Red Pill or Blue Pill or Celos’ Green Pill — Which Is Better? Discuss, ask questions here and we will learn. source:https://t.me/DotCrypto

I ruin people's lives for fun, this is my story.

Let me start by introducing myself, my name is Alex. I am 20 years old and clinically diagnosed with ASPD or Antisocial personality disorder. My diagnosis was given to me back in high school in my Junior year. It was pretty hard making friends or at least keeping them. You see when I try to make friends I usually only go into a relationship because of one thing; to get something in return. You could call it manipulating or deceiving people but, I don’t see it that way. I’ve had many therapists and physiatrists try to help me or figure out what’s wrong with me in the past but, I would just feed them the information they want to hear. Its pretty simple, give them all the shit they need to write down on their little piece of paper and it is music to their ears. Besides that, let us get to the story. Now you see the two key people back in high school were “Mike” and “Connor” and they were it. They had the girls, the popularity, the friends. They both were the biggest athletes in the entire school. This is important because I wanted that, but I couldn’t have it. Call it jealousy or whatever but, who wouldn’t want people to look up at you and have their names written in the daily paper.
High school was a bitch for me. I never had many friends or any real ones at least. I was known as the weird kid but, whatever right. Everyone says high school is tough for everyone. I believe it. Life gets back at people who deserve it though. Now Mike was the quarterback of the football team and he knew everyone and everyone knew him. I one day sent him a message on Snapchat and said: “Hey Mike, I know you don’t know me but, I think you’re a cool guy.” He then replied with “Who are you? Whatcha want dickhead?” I told him “Nothing much man, just thought we could be friends or something, we’re in the same Spanish class.” He said, “Oh, cool your that kid that sits in the back right?” I said, “Yeah, what you doing?” He then said, “Nothing much man, listen I got a party next weekend with a free crib if you tryna come.” I then told him I’d let him know. This was perfect because I knew exactly what I would do. I planned on seeing Connor there with his girlfriend Liz. That was important because I hated seeing the way Connor would treat her. He just used her for sex and shit and never really respected her. I knew how I would fix that though, and it would be at that party.
Well, I got to the party and there were at least 50 kids there. I saw a couple of familiar faces but couldn’t care at all. I was there for one thing and one thing only. To ruin their relationship. Call me a dick but, he was way worse than me. I once saw Liz come into school with a bruise on her face and knew it was from him. I finally saw them out back near the pool. I had a plan. I would text Connor’s phone from a different number making it look like it was some other chick texting him and Liz would be right there to see it. I went outside and he was drinking, probably already drunk. I could see them from across the pool and haven’t seen Mike yet. I was about to text him and then Mike came up and tapped me on my shoulder with two drinks in his hand. He said “Yooo, Alex you came!” I laughed awkwardly and said, “Yeah man, wouldn’t miss it.” He said, “You want a drink?” Gesturing the second cup to me. I took it and said “Thanks, man.” He said, “I’ll see you around, there’s more beer in the kitchen.” He walked away and now I pulled my phone out. I went on to the app which I would text him from and texted: “Hey Connor, I had a really good night last night with a winkie emoji.” I then sent it waiting for Liz to look over his shoulder. She did and read the message. They started to argue and Liz poured his beer all over his face. My plan was working just right. I then saw Liz walk inside in a rush. I pretended to bump into her and said: “Oh my fault didn’t see you there.” She laughed and said, “Oh my god, it’s you, Alex.” I then laughed as well and said, “You good?” She replied with, “No actually, I just found out Connor was cheating on me with some slut.” I said “Oh, that blows … you want a ride home?” She said, “No I’m good, I’ll just have Grace drive me home.” I preceded with, “You sure, I live super close to here anyways, I was just about to go home too.” She said, “Ok, sure that’s fine.” I then got in my car and we started to talk. I said, “So, how’d you find out?” She said, “Some bitch texted him saying that they slept together last night.” I then said, “Damn, what’s your address by the way?” She then said something that surprised me. “I can’t go home like this, my moms gonna know I’m drunk and I’ll never be able to go out again.” I said, “Well, what you wanna do then?” She said, “Um, I don’t know .. we should go to a park.” I said, “Oh ok, what park?” She gave me the name and we went there. I parked my car in the parking lot and said: “Whatcha tryna do now?” She then said, “Shut up stupid.” Hushing my lips for me. We made out that night and I dropped her back off and went home as well.
That week in school I got a snap from Connor. It was during lunch and I clicked on it. I saw the five words that couldn’t make me happier: “I know what you did.” I replied with, “What? What did I do now?” He said, “you hooked up with Liz.” I left him on open and went about my day. I then saw him in the parking lot after school near my car. He came up to me and screamed in my face: “SO YOU THINK YOU CAN JUST STEAL MY GIRL WITHOUT ME DOING ANYTHING?” I laughed right in his face and said, “Well, she isn’t with you anymore now, is she?” He then yelled: “Well, you think you’re just going to go about your day or something?” I said laughing, “Yeah, I was planning on going to Liz’s house after school.” He then jumped on top of me pinning me to the ground, socking me right in the jaw multiple times. I tried throwing some back but, he had my hands pinned to my side. He got up and said, “Fuck with her again and you won’t be getting up.” I got up with my nose bleeding and got into my car and went home.
That was 2 years ago and boy have I got my revenge. Let me start by saying I have no regrets about what I did. Everything I had done was for my satisfaction. You see I don’t care who’s life I ruin … as long as I get something out of it. Connor graduated high school with not much going for him. He had a job at a car dealership as a mechanic or something like that and never went to college. I never went to college so I won’t judge but, I had other plans after high school. I wanted to ruin Connor’s life, and I never stopped until I completed that process. It started with pretty small things like when I tried ruining his relationship back in high school. He was always a dick and who better to fuck with then a worthless piece of shit like Connor. I messaged him a couple of months ago saying: “Hey old friend … remember me?” He replied with “Yeah, the kid I beat the shit out of … I remember you.” I knew he would say something like this so, I sent him a picture of myself and his sister I photoshopped to look as if we were together. He replied with, “What the hell are you doing with my sister … she doesn’t date weird fucks like you.” I replied with, “Oh well looks like her type changed?” I was just sitting on my computer laughing my ass off from how gullible this kid was. He then messaged his sister Claire, which I thought he would do. “Are you dating a kid named Alex?” I had hacked into her phone which was pretty easy because I sent her a phishing email that looked like a women’s clothing company that I knew she had an interest in because of her Facebook. She clicked it and it then downloaded a key logger onto her phone which would send anything that was on her phone to me directly. I override it and replied as her saying: “Haha, yeah … me and him just started talking.” Everything that was being sent right now would delete as soon as I exited the software. I then texted him saying, “Claire is one beautiful woman, kind of reminds me of Liz…” He then said, “You know you’re a real dick you know ….” I said, “Haha the one who beat the shit out of their girlfriend in highschool right … I’m the dick.” I then said, “Hey how’s life going for you ... washing people’s cars ….” He replied with “Fuck you man … go do something with your time.” I ended the conversation with “Ok bud, I’ll let you know how she is in bed…” Now, this was just the first thing I would do to fuck with Connor’s life. A couple google searches for his name and I now had his address … He was still living with his parents at the time. I then went ahead and waited for him to get done work to order a couple of pizzas to his house and make him pay for them. A couple I mean by ordering 20 pizzas all with extra toppings. That was definitely a pricy delivery. A total of $300 if you want to round up. I called in and said I would pay in cash and my name was Connor; I gave the lady on the phone his address and it was as easy as that. You might be asking why I care so much to fuck with someone’s life … It’s easy, I get joy out of it. You see these were the baby steps to ruin someone’s life.
My next attempt would be going to a personal level. Connor had a laptop at home and I went ahead and hacked it. It was easy knowing how stupid he was. He would fall for anything. So I sent him an email that led him to a link that would automatically download a fake porn movie. He would run the download and I would then have access to everything on his computer. Everything. I had every username and password of every website he used including bank accounts, emails, videogames, documents, social media, and much more. I also could see what he was doing by his webcam which he never turned off. He also had a new girlfriend at the time and her name was Jessica or Jess for short. I planned on ruining their relationship too. One night I logged into one of his bank accounts to see what his balance was … It was $1,243.50. So I went ahead and requested a withdrawal to a website that would transfer it into bitcoin. I requested $500 to see if it would work without causing any attention. The transfer went through and I now had $500 in bitcoin. I went ahead and logged out and disconnected my VPN. I also knew Connors social because he had everything saved on his laptop like his passport, birth certificate, and social security. The next morning I drove over to his house and waiting for him to leave for the morning. I watched him get into his car from a street over and pull out of his driveway. He then sped off to the local bank, I proceeded to follow. I guess he found out $500 had been withdrawn from his account. After he was done in the bank he drove to Dunkin donuts. I then thought of an idea as he was inside. I got out of my car in the same parking lot and went over to his car and took my pocket knife out. I flipped it open and sliced his back tire open. I quickly got back in my car which was parked on the other side of the parking lot and waited for him to come out. He was pissed. I could tell because he just stood there and looked around trying to find the person who had done it. I sat in my car looking at him just snickering to myself. I was getting so much joy from watching him in anger. He took his phone out and called someone. He got back in his car and just sat there. I then saw another car pull in the parking lot about 15 minutes later. It was Jess. She pulled in and parked next to Connor’s car. He got out and sat in the front seat of Jessica’s car. I could care less now to watch so I went out of the back entrance and went back home.
I went onto my computer when I got home to open the software to view Connor’s laptop. I had a feeling that the bank would have told him to look for spyware on his computer when he got home so I made sure to get on before he could. I went ahead and deleted every traceable script that was linking the laptop to the RAT. I had scripted another code to perform as a startup manager which looked like windows software. It wouldn’t be picked up by antivirus so I just copied the RAT onto my new script and loaded onto his laptop remotely. I then went ahead and logged back onto his bank account and it was frozen. I wasn’t surprised. I thought they would have done something like this. I had a backup plan though. I went ahead and logged into his iCloud with his username and password which was conveniently saved from google. I searched for “Wheres my iPhone” and found where Connor was. I saw that he was at some apartment complex not far from me so I left my house and went there. It was dark out at this point and he was inside Jessica’s apartment. I parked my car and got out to search for his car. I took my jacket with me and wrapped it around my hand. I found his shitty old Honda just sitting there with a popped tire still. I took my knife which had a glass breaker and put it right against his window. It then cracked and I hit that window as hard as I could with my hand wrapped in my jacket. It broke and glass was everywhere. His car alarm was going off at this point so I had to do what I did next very fast. I looked inside his glove compartment and found his registration and insurance papers. I stuffed them in my pockets and looked through the center console. I found his wallet and a couple of condoms. I took his wallet and got the hell out of there. I sped out of the apartment complex and went back home fast, hoping no cops would see me.
I got back inside my house and looked inside Connor’s wallet. It had about $40 in cash and a little baggie of weed. There were credit cards in there as well. I had a perfect idea. I went onto a proxy and searched for the same bitcoin website I had recently been on. I went ahead and bought approximately $4,500 worth in bitcoin from every single credit card Connor had. I knew that this would destroy his credit score. I knew he wouldn’t be able to get an apartment with bad credit but, he was still living with his mom anyways. I now had extra resources to destroy Connor’s life. I knew that Connor wouldn’t be able to fix that broken window and most definitely wouldn’t be able to drive to work now because all of his papers to legally drive were now in my possession including his driver’s license. He had no money. I needed to move on with my next step to remove Jess from the equation.
I need to find a flaw in their relationship or something to exploit. I went ahead and completed my research on Jessica. Before I go on, I need to mention that Connor had now pulled the police into this. The bank and the police were now going to try and find out who had been messing with him. They won’t be able to find a link between the two. I know this for sure. Although knowing the police are involved it just made this game more fun. I like the attention that I am causing. Let me get back to what I had found on Jessica. What do you know? She was fucking with another dude. How do I know this you might ask? Well, I went ahead and looked around her Facebook and Instagram followers looking at mostly male followers. I ran a program that looked through her direct messages and found an account of another guy in the area. It looks like they went to the same high school. I looked through the messages and they were all flirts back and forth and she finally told him to message her on Snapchat. I, unfortunately, do not have access at this moment to look into her Snapchat messages but this is enough for now. I went ahead and took some screenshots of the messages and spoofed a text message to her saying “Looks like you got a little problem here don’t you?” Attaching the screenshots. She replied saying, “Who are you??? What do you want??” I simply replied back with “Oh nothing much, just pick who you want to keep … Connor is a dick anyway.” She replied, “You have no business in this … how did you even get into my messages?” I then said, “Don’t worry about it Jess, just tell Connor you guys aren’t working out anymore… and you won’t hear from me again.” A simple blackmail is all it took.
Guess he wasn’t really worth it. Never knew how to treat a woman right anyways. Now that Jess was out of the equation I could go ahead and proceed with ruining his life. I went ahead and called into his work. A lady picked up “Hello, [Name of car dealership] this is Lisa speaking, How may I help you?” I went ahead and said, “Ah yes, I recently had my car worked on here and I would like to make a complaint against one of your workers…” She replied with “Ok sir, and do you know the name of the employee?” I said, “Yes I do, Connor [last name]. I saw a scratch on the back of my car which looked like a key or something pulled the paint off. I saw this as soon as I got home from getting my car maintained on.” She said, “Ok sir, I will go ahead and mark down your complaint and we will handle it accordingly… if you would like you could come back so we can get more info from you and we could have someone take a look at the damage?’ I said, “No that won’t be necessary after what you guys have already done, thanks.” I then hung up the phone. I know that this will most definitely get him fired.
I called him a couple of days after this with a masked voice from software that changed my voice. He picked up and I said, “How’s life been? … Shitty let me guess.” He replied with “Can I ask who the fuck is calling? And why do you care how my life’s been?” I said “Maybe this would help … you missing that $4,500? … Lifes a bitch isn’t it.” He said, “You’re going to be arrested for stealing that money .. the police are looking into it.” I said “Oh, Connor I already know that … I’m three steps ahead of them already. I mean I guess Jess doesn’t want to date poor guys huh?” He said, “How the hell do you even know me … what do you want from me?” I said, “Connor go outside there’s a package for you and maybe a couple of your answers will be in there.” I hung up. Before calling him I made sure that a package with nothing except a USB was in there. It was meant to be plugged in and it would be erased within 1 hour of opening the contents … the contents were a txt file with the title of README.txt. It wasn’t a virus or anything it was just a document meant to be read. Once opened it would have a paragraph saying:
Hello Connor, the man that you were just speaking with knows everything about you and will not hurt you. You are playing the game of life. Its simple. You are a pawn in my game. I pick and choose what you do and how you do it. You may not see it but, everything that has been going on in your life the last couple of months has been of my choosing. I’ve been in the process of taking little bits of your life away. One by one. You see it all started back in high school when I took your little girlfriend away. I made her think you cheated on her. Easy. My next step would be to take away all of your money. Poof just like magic. All gone. Your credit is down the drain. The second step was to take away your transportation. No way to drive without any money. The broken window doesn’t help either. Or maybe no driver’s license. I then took your love life away. Jessica is no longer in your life. Well, maybe you might just go back to work to make more money …. Wrong you see. You no longer have a job. Don’t bother going in tomorrow because there was a report of you “damaging” a customer’s car. You may be reading this pretty upset because you have no way of fighting back. Well, that’s where I come in. I will give you a chance. In order to stop playing my game, I will send you an address and all you have to do is show up. Sounds easy? I hope so, for your own sake.
P.S: If you bring the police … the game ends differently. Not in your favor.
I was almost finished with Connor. I needed to do one more thing before I send him the address. I was never going to let him have an easy way out, no. I planned to make him go to a park that was at least an hour out of the direction. This would be a diversion away from his house so I could carry out my plan. I had recently bought with “Connors” money from the $4,500 that I converted into bitcoin approximately 4 kilos of crack cocaine. It would ship domestically so it wouldn’t be searched by customs. I then planned on having it shipped to a nearby drop zone which was an abandoned factory outside of town. I then would take this and put it into a backpack without putting my fingerprints on it. I then also had a USB that would boot up into the dark web which had all of Connors’s personal info like it was his. I also made the password his most commonly used password for the USB. This would link directly back to Connors’s local IP address which I had set onto the USB. I also remotely bought the drugs with Connors’s laptop. My plan here would be to send in an anonymous tip from a payphone to the local police station that there was a large package of crack cocaine shipped to Connors’s address. I also planted the baggie of weed which had Connors fingerprints on them in the back porch of his house. This would give the police probable cause to search the house for drugs. I would assume that they would have already brought a warrant but, just in case I had done that for precautionary reasons. This all would happen tonight. This is when I would successfully ruin Connor’s life. I would send him to prison for years. He would be sentenced with multiple felonies of drug possession and intent to sell. The large quantity that he would be possessing would give him no parol either.
I had the vendor on the dark web pack baggies of grams pre-bagged and one large quantity as well. This would give him the charge of intent to sell as well. The investigation would come down to that he purchased them from his laptop with his credit cards. Nothing would be traced back to me. I made sure of this because I had corrupted all of my hard drives back at home by microwaving them. There was no personal connection to Connor with me. So, I would not be looked into. I was just a kid from his high school with a thousand other students. I had no connection to anyone in his family either. I went ahead and sent him the name of the park through a random phone number I generated and said, “Connor you have 90 minutes to be here, or the game continues.” I was outside his house a street over waiting for him to leave. I saw him leave which was around 12:30 am and everyone was asleep in his house. I set a timer on my phone for an hour which was my time to plant everything and get out before Connor was home. I then went to his back porch and planted the baggie of weed at his bedroom window. He was stupid enough to leave his window open and I opened it and went inside his room. I had gloves on at this point before I left my car. I dropped the backpack inside his closet and plugged in the USB that I had prepared into his laptop which was sitting on his desk. I then left through his window locking it before stepping out. I made sure the weed was sitting nicely on the outside of his window. I then walked back to my car. I checked the timer on my phone and it was at 35 minutes. I knew he would be at the park before the timer was up. I went to a closed parking lot that I scoped out before planting the evidence which had a payphone. I called in and said, “392 [Street] there is a large number of drugs which is owned by Connor [last name]. I am sending this tip in and would like to keep it anonymous for my safety.” I hung up and left the parking lot immediately. On my way back home I got a text from Connor replying with “I’m here … what do you want me to do to end this stupid game?” I replied with “It easy … take your phone and throw it into the lake … You will receive your money back after this last task is done.” He said, “How do I know you’re going to follow through on your end?” I said, “If you don’t do it, you don’t get your money …you are a player of my game remember, you follow my rules and you can win.” I then sent another message saying, “Tomorrow check the balance of your bank, and all the money will be back where it rightfully belongs. Goodbye now.” This would be the last step in covering up everything I had messaged him. He is just playing every card I told him without even knowing. I then called the phone 5 minutes later to see if it connected me through. I called and it said, “The phone number you’ve dialed is no longer in service … please call back later.” My plan was now complete and Connor will be arrested within the hour. I got home and went to sleep without a problem. I woke up the next morning and turned the news on. The headline was “Breaking News: Man in local [county] was arrested last night for drug trafficking.” This was music to my ears hearing the lady speak about the details of the arrest and hearing her say Connor’s name. She said it like he was some criminal and boy did I love that. I looked up the details of the arrest on google and clicked on the first link. [Connor ****** arrested last night for drug traffiking] I saw his mug shot and it said under it that he could be sentenced up to 25 years and up to $20,000 in fines for intent to sell crack cocaine. This was the end of Connor’s free life. He was now a convicted felon and would never have his original life back. My game was now completed and he was the pawn to complete it.

Can't transfer BTC from Abra to new Bitcoin Core v0.20

Just got the new Bitcoin Core v0.20 but cannot transfer from Abra. The following error appears on Abra when trying to send: "You may only withdraw to a Bitcoin (BTC address. Please enter or scan a valid BTC address". I tried generating both the native segwit Bech32 address and the regular address from Core but still cant send from Abra to either addresses. Is there something wrong with Abra or BTC Core?

UMI — Unique Digital Bank of the New Generation

UMI — Unique Digital Bank of the New Generation

https://preview.redd.it/gv5rxrtdt0851.jpg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=861d32aa50c6d836daf2a30edc5f08491a414e3d
As UMI grows, evil-wishers may compare this cryptocurrency to a financial pyramid because coin value in user wallets grows at the rate of up to 40% a month. Anticipating potential accusations, the UMI Team has decided to provide effective arguments for all “whistleblowers”.
Coin value doesn’t grow on all wallets or by itself. It only grows for users who belong to structures contributing significantly into ecosystem development. Among other things, they also bring in new loyal users interested in promoting the coin.
ROY Club’s powerful structures will benefit the project greatly and will be justly honored with reward for their contribution into network development. Inefficient structures, on the other hand, receive low or zero growth (if a structure owns less than 50,000 coins). It means that no one can prey on UMI.
Coin value starts to grow only after a user activates the Staking Smart Contract. They should also use their personal addresses within successful structures rather than usual addresses. Therefore, adding coins to a staking structure is more like a bank deposit. Coin value doesn’t grow on the user’s current account — it grows on their structure’s deposit account.
Moreover, UMI is designed as an alternative to the existing financial system, with traditional banks on top of the system. In real fact, cryptocurrency is completely different. UMI can be defined as a “unique digital bank of the new generation”.
UMI’s advantages over bank deposits and financial pyramids are clearly visible:
  • Unlike traditional banks, UMI’s digital bank cannot collapse. A usual bank as well as a financial pyramid will shut down if withdrawal exceeds deposit. If at least 20% of bank’s customers decide to withdraw funds from their deposit accounts, the bank will not be able to pay them because it won’t’ have enough cash. UMI, on the other hand, does not generate coins out of thin air or through a stream of fresh funds. New coins are generated using the unique staking technology based on the Smart Contract. Nothing will happen to the UMI network even if 100% of users wish to withdraw their coins from deposit accounts at the same time. The network will continue to operate smoothly, nothing will collapse.
  • When you make a deposit in a bank or a financial pyramid, funds are locked and sent to the managers. In UMI, coins are always stored on the users’ wallets. The Smart Contract allows people to make “deposits” without granting access to their funds to anyone, not even organizers of the structure. Unlike unfair banks or financial pyramids, organizers of the structure cannot technically flee with users’ funds as they have no access to them.
  • Banks issue printed money to citizens as loans charging extortionate interest. UMI gives the “printing press” directly to the people allowing them to generate new digital money themselves — and does so free of charge.
  • Unlike bank deposits, UMI can afford to pay its users a much higher interest. It’s partially because we don’t have to invest into an expensive banking infrastructure or huge management wages. Instead, to cover expenses of the UMI Team, the Smart Contract additionally generates 2% of all coins engaged in staking on a monthly basis. These funds are used to promote the cryptocurrency and pay grants to activists.
  • UMI earning rates are as high as those in financial pyramids. The idea behind the project is completely different, though. UMI’s Smart Contract GUARANTEES that you will receive your coins and all earnings in 100% of the cases. It’s embedded in the code of this technology. New UMI coins are just generated like Bitcoin and Ethereum tokens. There will be enough for all. While a financial pyramid will surely collapse as all it does is paying to those coming first using funds contributed by those coming next until withdrawal exceeds deposit and the “treasury” becomes empty.
  • Finally, unlike banks or financial pyramids the UMI network is decentralized and features a completely open source code. It does not belong to a bunch of people — it belongs to all users thus ensuring their funds are completely safe. The open source code guarantees there’s no hidden agenda and rules out any potential fraud.
UMI is a new product with no equivalents. It’s a “unique digital bank of the new generation” that surpasses traditional banks in all parameters. It’s a cryptocurrency that can change the world. Not tomorrow — today. Right here, right now!

Lets all pray that Apollon is a scam, and not a bust

... because if LE took over the place yesterday, locked all the vendors out to stop the flow of actual drugs but kept it online it would be too horrific to contemplate. But contemplate we must.
Imagine vendors entering mnemonic strings, PIN numbers and PGP keys in a desperate effort to login. Thank God for WIKR, or we would be none the wiser. Most of it's customers don't use darknet or Dread and will be happily shopping right now in the largest selection of drugs this beautiful un-DDOSed market has ever offered.
I'm praying that it really is the ham-fisted sheepmarketplace / Evolution-style "one way valve" scam that it first appears, but those type of scams are almost impossible to get away with nowadays. I can't believe that "the rotten Apple"s owner would be that stupid. Let me explain:-
If a market allows deposits and not withdrawals in an extended exit scam, they open themselves up to "Malicious Late Deposit" (Golden Bitcoin) attacks like this one I did yesterday https://www.blockchain.com/btc/address/334WoTxteQQfXGtXCesc2dB2E9o5KNF8FG If that $4 gets stolen, the world can follow it on the blockchain knowing that only the owner can move THAT bitcoin right now. (Unless, that is, u/Apollo / u/Atlas is in handcuffs). The whole swag bag is poisoned if he steals my 0.0005446 . It's the booby trap used against Sheepmarketplace and it works.
EVERY MARKETPLACE OWNER WOULD KNOW THAT , which is why I think we should discuss the possibility that LE could be sitting next to the server, eating doughnuts off it and laughing at us. Whenever there's a scam, a disgusted admin usually turns up on reddit to complain about the owner and confirm the exit scam but it hasn't happened.
The floor is open to discussion. Before you post you may be interested in this, the only known video of Apollon's admins https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5rRZdiu1UE
EDIT:- Even if the server is "safe" now, it doesn't mean it always will be.
You have a unique opportunity to login to apollon and delete everything you can. Order history, messages, make your profile a blank page. Generate a new unused deposit address for all wallets (monero included) and then delete your wallet history. Then change your password to something you definitely haven't used anywhere else and logout. Don't just stand around moaning during an exit scam.
"Clean house". This is what vendors would be doing right now, but they went to work to find that the locks have been changed on all their shops.

Hello ! Thank You for your reply. We have learned all paragraphs that You have presented. We have been very surprised your ingenuity. You have made excellent work for such a short period of time. We are interested in the following options from all You have offered: We wil buy bitcoins directly from individuals. (It is how we can buy Bitcoins with no limit). We will buy bitcoins for 25-30% more expensively than it's a real course. (In other words - we will buy bitcoins for the same price then from the Exchanges + additional surtax, but without limit and without several days wait). We will involve the American sellers of bitcoins for full-time employment. (they are more active and they have more opportunities to buy bitcoins for us.) We will pay a cash for Bitcoins and after receiving of bitcoins. (This is becaus of the fact that there are a lot of scam in USA and there is a probability that anybody can send us the stolen bitcoins. We are ready to pay bitcoins with a cash for the same reason excepting bank transactions) We are going to make deals with new sellers of bitcoins with the limit of $1500 per one deal. After a first month of partnership and if we had no problems with a new seller we may discuss to lift the limitation. Please learn the list of our decision and develop the program for search and involve the American individuals. We have tested the method with our current employees and it has a success. Everyone is interested in the extra profits.

Whatcha want dickhead?” I told him “Nothing much man, just thought we could be friends or something, we’re in the same Spanish class.” He said, “Oh, cool your that kid that sits in the back right?” I said, “Yeah, what are you doing?” He then said, “Nothing much man, listen I got a party next weekend with a free crib if you tryna come.” I then told him I’d let him know.

Question Roundup - May 2020

The following questions were asked in our Telegram: t.me/ptokens

Q: What is the minimum amount of BTC that can be deposited into the pTokens DApp?
A: The bare minimum that can be pegged in/out is currently 0.00005 btc.

Q: I have BTC now. How do I get pBTC?
A: You can deposit your BTC and mint the correspondent amount of pBTC via the pTokens dApp: https://dapp.ptokens.io
Or you can exchange another erc20 token for pBTC on Kyber and Bancor.
You can also swap through Paraswap, 1inchExchange, or Eidoo Wallet, MyEtherWallet, Trust Wallet, and Argent, all of which offer interfaces to these platforms.

Q: Are you listed on exchanges yet?
A: Yes. You can find pBTC on Kyber, Bancor, Uniswap V2, and soon to be Bitfinex.

Q: Which pBTC pair has the highest liquidity on Kyberswap?
A: All Kyber reserves are against ETH and so the pair with liquidity is pBTC/ETH. But Kyber auto-routes any other reserves as needed in case you want to exchange pBTC against something different than ETH.

Q: Why should I buy pBTC on an exchange when I can peg in and peg out on my own in the DApp?
A: Users may buy pBTC on exchanges for interoperability with other DeFi platforms or for convenience in case they prefer to stay on Ethereum. Though, as mentioned, you can easily peg in/out with no fee and zero slippage from the ptokens DApp (for example withdrawing btc straight from an exchange to your peg-in address).

Q: Do I have to generate a new address for each transaction in the pTokens DApp? What happens if I send my BTC to an old generated address.
A: Old addresses can safely be reused but keep in mind that they are 1:1 linked to the Eth address you have specified when generating them. So any deposit to that BTC pegin address will always result in the issuance of pBTC on the specific ETH address.

Q: How do you pay network fees for BTC?
A: We subsidize that cost during the current phase0, In phase1 the fee will be chosen by the DAO and enforced by validators (the fee will be distributed among them as a reward for their work). At that point you can expect the fee to be similar to the ones applied by competing projects, which is normally between 0.1 and 0.2% (conceptually similar to the "trading fee" being applied by exchanges).

Q: How many nodes will there be?
A: This will be different in phase1 and phase2. Specifically, phase1 will be focused on introducing a network, therefore moving the system from a single node to multiple nodes. At this stage there will be a limited number of validators. The next upgrade (phase2) will be focused on making the network permissionless, expanding the number of validators and enabling anyone to join.

Q: What will the governance tokens be able to govern?
A: The governance token will be used to vote on a variety of improvement proposals. For example, which pTokens bridges to develop, how to implement fees, and other improvements for the system. We have not decided on a specific set of topics the community will contribute to, but we anticipate this will evolve over time based on what the DAO wants.

Q: What's the business model for pTokens? is the plan to generate revenue by being liquidity providers on Uniswap, Kyber, Bancor, etc. for all the pTokens users will mint?
A: The validators get rewarded with the peg-in/peg-out fees (the DAO will be in charge of potentially changing that fee so that the p.Network can balance the incentives for the validators best.

Q: Will Provable be creating all the token bridges for assets from various chains or is there a way for anyone to create a bridge and have it hooked into your system?
A: There will be a DAO where everyone will be able to vote and decide what bridges should be started by validators. In phase0, Provable has significant control over the system, while from phase1 on, the development team gives up governance choices to the DAO and validation gets taken over by the pNetwork.

Q: Would it be possible to transfer pBTC (ETH) <> pBTC (EOS) and not have to withdraw/deposit into BTC during this process?
A: Yes, that is possible. In the background the system would go through BTC, but you as a user wouldn’t see it because of the feature automating it. This is useful if you want to arbitrage across EOS and ETH DEXs.

Q: How are BTC transaction fees handled when transferring pBTC between Ethereum and EOS networks? Are costs translated to the users?
A: Because the BTC is not transacted on the Bitcoin blockchain, you don’t have to pay network fees on Bitcoin. When you peg in or out for pBTC you are just un-wrapping the asset from its EOS tokenized form and wrapping it in its ETH tokenized form (and vice versa).

Q: How do I know you won’t shut down your project similar to how tBTC did?
A: Keep Network paused its tBTC system after two days after detecting a bug. pBTC on Ethereum has been live for over three months. If there is ever a security issue that requires pTokens to be suspended we will intervene, but we are committed to keeping it running safely. From phase1, the running of the network will not be under our control so risk of availability will go down significantly. We’re currently in phase0, so please keep in mind that you should proceed with caution while the system isn't decentralized yet.

Q: Can you explain Oraclize and Provable’s relationship?
A: Oraclize (now rebranded into Provable) is a different project on which Provable Things has worked on. It is still operating and is currently being used in production by hundreds of smart contracts on the Ethereum mainnet every month (and if you look on github, thousands of open source public repositories have integrations with the Oraclize oracle service). It is also being used in production on EOS and other chains. The Provable team bootstrapped pTokens.

Q: Can you explain how I can get pBTC to fiat?
A: If you’re in the US, you can try an off-ramp to USD from Coinbase. Visit Kyber or your preferred Dex Aggregator (1inchexchange, or Dex ag) to trade your pBTC to USDT then in Binance (or your preferred Dex aggregator) trade USDT to USDC. Once you have USDC, you can sell it for USD on Coinbase.
If you're in the EU or UK, you can work through the transaction flow above, and end with a wallet that supports a fiat off-ramp to Euros or British Pounds. Eidoo Wallet, for example, supports conversions of DAI, USDT, or USDC to Euros.
