MUST READ : Can decentralization be applied to protest movements ?

Hello guys
i think most of the bitcoin community are unaware of something very interesting is happening in the biggest country in Africa: Algeria
Mass protests is today a 1 strong-year-old mainly politic demands BUT .one of the big demands is lifting the bans on cryptocurrencies and blockchain and i should mention that Algeria is population 43 million with 55% internet penetration wonder what bitcoin price would be when the ban get lifted ...? 📷
the people are refusing the crypto ban and going to change that sooner than later

Edit 1: for people that don't understand why this is a big deal, the Algerian foreign currency black market size it's worth 100 billion $, the market called: Square market Algeria
support source (in Arabic) from UK's the independent: Click here

Edit 2: given the skepticism I saw, here is some support articles for those who are having a hard time believing or having a brain BSOD on why world media don't want to cover this

Brave Introduces Beta of Private Tabs with Tor for Enhanced Privacy while Browsing | Brave Browser
Today we’re releasing our latest desktop browser Brave 0.23 which features Private Tabs with Tor, a technology for defending against network surveillance. Private Tabs with Tor help protect Brave users from ISPs (Internet Service Providers), guest Wi-Fi providers, and visited sites that may be watching their Internet connection or even tracking and collecting IP addresses, a device’s Internet identifier.

Team Tweets:

Why does Brave require KYC (Know Your Customer)? How does it protect users? When will it be used?
BrendanEich @BrendanEich Fake cc/dcid is <$1 on dark web, so without KYC, fraudsters can buy $20 in crypto using a stolen id they never use again, net $19, and repeat all day long. Sad but true. Anything that goes to fiat has stronger legal requirements. Jun 24, 2018
BrendanEich‏ @BrendanEich Replying to @sh1mmer @BraveSampson and 2 others 1/ If you presented cash in person, it would be easier :-/. Today's web does indeed require ads not goodwill user payments ($80B in 2017 in US on digital alone). If you don't want BAT ads (we're in early user trials rn), can bring legit cc/debitcard, then KYC will be necessary. Jun 24, 2018
BrendanEich‏ @BrendanEich Replying to @BrendanEich @sh1mmer and 3 others 2/ We are evaluating one-ID-scan-for-all-uses, decentralized KYC providers such as @civickey and will work to lower friction via such as soon as we can. More on that as soon as we have news. For now @upholdinc is best bet. Thanks for your patience! Jun 24
Brian R. Bondy @brianbondy So many people to thank for @brave private tabs using the Tor network. But I wanted to give a special shout out to @anthonnytseng and @Riastradh_. Amazing work guys.
Jun 28, 2018
Brian R. Bondy @brianbondy Private tabs using Tor in @brave also not possible without @bcrypt, @petemill, rossmoody, @flamsmark, @w0ts0n, the QA team and I'm forgetting some others I'm sure. Jun 28, 2018
Version 1.0 testing builds coming in a few weeks?
Brian R. Bondy @brianbondy Thanks for reaching out, we'll put out some github only builds soon with nightly branding of the new rewrite. Pls ping back in a couple weeks and I'll get you a link for that. Jun 27, 2018
Congratulations Brave teams on setting up Private Tabs with Tor!
BrendanEich @BrendanEich Great @brave teamwork delivered Private Tabs with Tor for beta-testing in latest release today. Please help test and let us know how to improve. Thanks. https://brave.com/tor-tabs-beta/

Brave announces the beta of Private Tabs with Tor!
Brave Software @brave Introducing the beta of our Private Tabs with Tor! Today's Brave desktop release (0.23.19) integrates Tor into the browser and gives users a new browsing mode

Johnny, Chief Policy & Industry Relations Officer at Brave, on ads and consent for GDPR:
Johnny Ryan @johnnyryan Read the Article 29 Working Party opinion on legitimate interest more carefully - it explicitly says on (p. 18 and p. 47) that online behavioural advertising would require consent to be lawful. The @IAB should be clear about this. #GDPR #EUdatap pic.twitter.com/WjR2VrrksS

BAT/Brave in the News:

Brave Browser Adds Support for Private Browsing With Tor Integration
Brave launched a new version today that features a private browsing mode that automatically starts inside a Tor session. The Brave team says the new "Private Tabs with Tor" feature will be helpful for users who are looking for additional protection that goes beyond the local PC.
Private browsing sessions were invented to wipe data from the browser after a browsing session is closed. But this type of browsing is not opaque to ISPs and the websites a user accesses, which can log traffic originating from the user. Brave's Tor-integrated private browsing sessions anonymize the user's IP address by passing the browser traffic through the Tor network.

Can Blockchain Fix the Ad Industry?
The companies running ads on their services know users hate them. Just watch a few videos on YouTube, and you'll eventually get a message box that encourages you to subscribe to the network's paid service to get rid of ads.
But this doesn't mean digital ads are completely dead. A handful of organizations, startups, and large tech companies believe they can fix the problems with blockchain, the distributed ledger technology that underlies digital currencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Brave now serving ads to as many as 1,000 volunteers who agreed to help test out the company's plans
The builders of the Brave browser have begun serving replacement advertisements to volunteers, a key part of a business model that relies on stripping others' ads from web pages.
Expanded trials will take place over the coming months, Brave asserted, boosting the number of users and advertisements. At an undetermined point, Brave will add the Basic Attention Tokens (BATs) that form the foundation of the firm's unusual business model.

Brave now protects your browsing activity with Tor-powered tabs
Want more online privacy? Brave, the ad-blocking browser, has a new way to get it on the web.
A new version of the browser released Thursday adds technology called onion routing from the Tor Project as an option to its private tabs. Tor helps keep you anonymous by shuttling your internet communications a network of computers that obscures your true address on the internet, making it much harder for a website to know you visited.

News You Should Know:

Marketing Firm Exactis Leaked a Personal Info Database with 340 Million Records
Earlier this month, security researcher Vinny Troia discovered that Exactis, a data broker based in Palm Coast, Florida, had exposed a database that contained close to 340 million individual records on a publicly accessible server. While the precise number of individuals included in the data isn't clear—and the leak doesn't seem to contain credit card information or Social Security numbers—it does go into minute detail for each individual listed, including phone numbers, home addresses, email addresses, and other highly personal characteristics for every name. The categories range from interests and habits to the number, age, and gender of the person's children.

Facebook and Google use 'dark patterns' around privacy settings, report says
Facebook, Google and Microsoft push users away from privacy-friendly options on their services in an "unethical" way, according to a report by the Norwegian Consumer Council.
It studied the privacy settings of the firms and found a series of "dark patterns", including intrusive default settings and misleading wording. The firms gave users "an illusion of control", its report suggested. The report - Deceived by Design - was based on user tests which took place in April and May, when all three firms were making changes to their privacy policies to be in compliance with the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

In a sign of things to come, California governor signs GDPR-style privacy law
The California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, which goes into effect from 2020, mirrors many of the provisions of GDPR in that it puts strict regulations in place as to how online companies deal with customer data.
At its crux, the legislation gives California residents the right to know what data a company has collected on them as well as the ability to control what a company does with that data. Upon request, companies operating within the state must now disclose what information it collects, why it collects the data and to whom it sells the data. Consumers will have the legal right to compel companies to delete any data a business has gathered about them or opt out of their data being shared or sold.

Is This BCC Permanently Lost? Feel a Bit Stupid.

Hi everyone,
I initally invested in bitcoin when I bought about 0.34btc in March, and stored it in a MultiBitHD wallet. In August (about when the BCC fork happened as it happens) I read that MultiBit was no longer supported and decided I would move my BTC to Exodus Wallet.
I not only did this but after completing the move, formatted the USB stick I was using for MultiBit, destroyed my seed words paper sheet, and deleted off both PCs that I had used it on, the "MultiBitHD" data folder (I assume the private key would have been in there too). I did this even though I knew that with the wallet being empty there was no real danger I just thought that I ought to completely remove all traces of it. I have minor OCD problems!
Now, having learned much more about crypto over following months ( and having invested into other coins and tokens) and with the BTG fork, also understanding what a "fork" actually is. I realise when this happens, you effectively get "free money" of the same quantity of your BTC at the time of fork. At that time I had no idea this was the case and thought Bitcoin Cash was just a new cryptocurrency slightly related to Bitcoin itself. At that time, I had no idea that wallet also automatically contained retreivable BCC too and basically at that point I was ripping up and setting fire to what is now fairly significant value.
So whilst my profits from BTC are massively bigger in comparison to this loss, it's quite painful to see this BCC wallet of about $400 USD that is "mine" but I will never be able to access: https://imgur.com/a/yHb86
I was able to recover what the public key of this wallet was through my history on Exodus wallet transactions, and find it on the blockchain explorer when clicking the transaction details link, but this is the best I can do. I've even run hard drive recovery tools in the hope I may be able to recover the data files, but no luck.
Think I know the answer anyway, but is this BBC definitely lost and out of circulation forever?
I can stomach the loss of about £300 of BCC as what I have in profits of fairly well secured BTC and LTC etc is worth a lot more than this. Could be painful if it grows like BTC has though. I can't be the only one who's done this sort of stupid mistake!
Many Thanks for reading and your attention, if anyone knows of some way I could recover it it would be massively appreciated and I would obviously financially reward you for it with some of that BCC!

Bitcoin - Inception

The people who think they should use Bitcoin to buy a latte are the same people that live off of student loans for years as they “work” on a useless degree. These are ignorant people who do what is most satisfying in the moment without any idea about how things really work or the value of money.
Bitcoin is revolutionary to the extent that it provides an apolitical means of storing and exchanging value. Money is more political now than ever, and when someone tells you what you can and can’t do with your money, they own you. Ignorant people end up getting owned by those who control their money, whether through debt payment on a student loan or by a government which denies them access to their money via inflation, taxation, theft or capital controls.
Obviously the Bitcoin blockchain (BBC) will not scale to satisfy every trivial transaction. I’ve seen the estimates, some of them written by Hearn a long time ago indicating how the BBC can scale to PayPal loads or Visa loads. So what? Don’t you think that we are headed down a path where transaction load is going to explode exponentially? Of course it is, as soon as the pipelines are working. The BBC is the all-important settlement layer.
Ask yourself – why don’t we already have this exponential explosion of micro transactions? It’s not because we don’t have the technology. For instance, Google aggregates page views and clicks and mediates the exchange of value. Facebook monetizes people’s inner lives. This is extremely complicated and cumbersome. You probably think that Facebook and Google use these techniques because people like “free” stuff, like student loans! That is true, but there is another reason.
The interactions with the users of Google and Facebook are not taxable, even though they are micro transactions of a sort. The aggregation of value and the payment of taxes are subsumed into the vast operations of Google and Facebook. Of course there is financial accounting, and money flows between Google and Facebook and the client corporations which use their services to gain access to the public, but the micro transactions remain unmolested.
With the BBC we see the potential for a grand orchestration where you no longer need a Google or Facebook, with their lobbyists and tax lawyers, because the top level mediation of value is handled without permission. In order to realize this vision we need to work our way down to the micro transaction level with recursive layers of similar block chains. Once we have one level of side chain we will be able to go deeper and deeper using the same techniques recursively. For the non-programmers out there think about the movie Inception.
At the end of this we have more or less infinitely scalable transaction capability which is permissionless, i.e. uncorrupted at every level. And the demand will be more or less infinite as the value of this network feedback loop kicks in.
The key to making this work is fungibility. That’s the real problem with the BBC, not block size or the block reward halving. But that is a topic for another day.
