Supported GPUs for [email protected], mixing AMD/Nvidia?

I have been trying to find out which GPUs are supported for folding, and it seems a little wishy-washy. I have a few older systems and components lying around since the early days of Bitcoin mining, and since I live in Northern Norway and therefore need to heat the house 11/12 months of the year, I thought I might as well get a few systems up and running to support the cause and heat the house at the same time.
Efficiency does not matter, all energy goes towards heating the house which I need to do anyway. These are the GPUs I have lying around:
1 GTX 770
2 HD 5850, one OEM version and a Sapphire version
1 HD 4870
1 9800 gt
1 8800 GT
1 HD 3850
1 HD 3650
Which of these are supported, and how should I prioritise them? The 770 and the 2 5850s are a given as they are the most powerful (and newest).
I only have 3 cases available, but 4 PSUs and even more motherboards/CPUs/RAM/HDDs/SSDs, so I need to figure out which card goes where. I won't be able to run them all as I lack powerful enough PSUs to do so
I have already assembled a rig with a 3570k running the GTX 770 and a HD 5850 and it seems to work fine on Windows 10, but I am pondering installing Linux for better efficiency(?). Does Linux support mixing and matching GPUs without jumping through hoops? I haven't run Linux systems since 2012 or so, so if it gets too complicated I will just run everything in Windows 10, at least to begin with. I could run a Linux system with the 2 5850s I guess.

I also have my gamig rig (RTX 2070 super, Ryzen 3700x) and 5 threads on my Mac Pro (2013, thrashcan) running atm, the gaming rig is trouncing everything PPD-wise...

Graphics card upgrade

Hey there!
I have a question i hope you can help me with.
Today an old colleague of mine offered me a graphics card he is willing to sell to me that was used for bitcoin mining, i don't know much about bitcoin mining and how fast graphics cards deteriorate when they are used for that.
The graphics card in question is a GeForce® GTX 1080 Ti Gaming OC 11G (The white one with 3 fans)
He offered it to me for €400,- and said it wasn't used that much. At the moment i have a MSI GTX 770 2gb graphics card.
I would really appreciate your opinion about this because for me it sounds like a great offer.
Thanks a lot in advance!

Continuous Pool Disconnection & 0 Mh/s Speeds

What's up internet/fellow miners. About a week ago I've made the decision to turn my gaming PC to a mining rig. I've had some success solo mining with nicehashminer (Bitcoin miner) but decided that it would be better to mine Ethereum. I've followed the guide and kept coming across these issues. . . I don't know if it's because my config files are whack or another underlying issue.
(EDIT) Connected to us1.ethermine.org:4444 now i'm getting different issues. Here are my most recent logs.

[Q] PC HW Upgrade [email protected] + GTX 770 to new GPU (1080/1070TI)

Hey guys,
as you may have seen, the prices in GPUs dropped quite a bit recently after the crypto mining hype. In EFT, I gather bitcoins from the health resort, where my performance is sadly really bad. So I figured, I'd combine the two and get a new GPU, as I imagine it to be my bottle neck. My CPU is (I think?) still quite reasonable, especially judging since it still goes for roughly 400 euro and I have 32 gb RAM available.
My current GPU is a "Gigabyte 770 GTX OC" and I am looking to upgrade to a 1080 or 1070TI.
Did anyone upgrade in a similar fashion? How much did you benefit?
Or... to those who have played around in-depth with graphics settings etc., do you think upgrading the GFX card will actually be worth it?

Pricing this one is abit on the difficult side but i figured i would start here and go from their.
This is a BEAST of a motherboard supports dual socket 2011 cpus and is the only mobo for this socket that will let you overclock them (bclk oc) I currently run dual e5-2670's on it and it handles every task i throw at it with flying colors. I have tested it with MANY operating systems including, 2008, 2008 R2, 2012 R2, win 10, ESXI 6.0 (majority of time), and Proxmox (basic testing) all of which it was COMPLETELY stable. However, this motherboard does have some damage in both of the sockets. socket 0 is missing 3 pins all of witch are redundant I believe they are all grounding pins. socket 1 is missing about 5 and some of those are redundent but some of them are related to dimm 4. dimm 4 of socket one does not work leaving you with only 11 out of the 12 dimms. This is the only damage that effects the functionality of the mobo the only other "damage" is VERY small and in no way effects the preformance or look of the mobo. Currently this is the only on I could find for sale anywhere and figured i would put it on the market in case anyone was interested. This is used in my daily rig and i use it for everything from virtualization to CAD and gaming with zero issues.

would like to keep until i sell the sr-x as its a important part of my main rig.

[USA-KS] [H] HD6950, Broken 260X, GT 545 [W] Paypal, Trades, Local cash

You saw the title!
HD6950 - $50 + shipping. Tested, works! Only personally used once in the last two weeks. This card was purchased by a friend of mine during the bitcoin mining craze, but he only used it for a short period of time due to cost issues. It sat in his office until two weeks ago when I bought it.
R7 260X - $20 + shipping. Tested & NOT working. Not sure what's wrong with it, but I get no video signal at startup. Was purchased new in October of 2015 and only used until February. I would have RMA'd it but it's XFX and they wanted me to pay ~$60 in shipping to RMA. This could be an interesting project for someone with a soldering kit.
GT 545 - $35 + shipping. Came from an Alienware Aurora R2 (I believe) It's kinda dirty, but it works fine. Could maybe use some love and new thermal paste. Your call.
Prices are negotiable, especially if I can find a cheaper shipping service. Also willing to consider trades for each or all of the listed cards. I'm specifically looking for a new GPU. I'd be willing to trade all three cards for something along the lines of a R9 280, R9 380, GTX 680, 770, or 960. I'm also considering other trades. Just hit me up and we'll go from there.
Timestamps
For those who are curious, the 6950 and 260X perform similarly to a 750 ti. The GT 545 is in the same performance bracket as a GT 650 or R7 250. Source

Should I sell my GTX 770 and buy a used 290X?

Hey,
I have been having lots of trouble with my 770 lately... HUGE framerate drops in totally non-demanding games, things like that. For example, in Borderlands 2, i should be getting 90-ish FPS, but im getting like 4-15 FPS. Even on the lowest settings. Its been happening in every game that i own... its extremely frustrating.
I dont have viruses, ive checked like 50,000,000 times. Complete scans of every file on my PC... Nothing.
Specs:
i7-4770k
GTX 770 4gb
16gb RAM
I have no clue whats wrong...
SO, my question is: Should i sell my 770 and get an R9 290x with the money? It seems like that would be a huge upgrade from the 770, at relatively the same cost (From ebay). Now, i know that most of the AMD cards on ebay are there because of the Bitcoin mining thing, but im sure there would be a few that i could find that werent used as bitcoin slaves...
My other plan was to RMA this card and see if that solves the problem. If not, then I know something is wrong with whole PC...
Im so fed up with this card that I feel like switching to AMD sounds pretty good right now...
Also, any ideas on how to fix this issue? Even if i do fix it, i might still switch to the 290x...
Thanks in advance for all the help.

Build Notes
I do not plan on overclocking.
Build is heavily derived from the logical increments guide and choosemypc.
This build is replacing a Sager NP5165 laptop as my primary machine. Since it's still an adequate gaming machine, I've been holding off on upgrading until I have a large enough budget for a good machine and peripherals.
Primary usage will be gaming, Internet-ing, and movies.
Going with 2TB drive because that's basically how much data I'm using on my laptop+external drives.
Going with 1x8GB RAM because I'll probably upgrade to 16GB in the nearish future; I tend to have 50-100+ tabs in firefox open, and run multiple distributed computing projects in the background (don't do bitcoin mining though). The task manager tends to put me at 99% use. I think some one the programs I use have memory leaks, since my memory use tends to creep ever higher as the day goes on.
My apartment tends to be both hot and dusty. Should I change anything to account for this?
Mostly buying through Amazon since someone else is paying for my Prime, and I may as well use it. They tended to have lower prices than newegg anyway. Not interested in buying from anyone but those two if I can avoid it.
I've been wanting to move up to 1920x1200 / 2560x1440 / 2560x1600 for a while. Don't want to go with an A- screen. Want to eventually upgrade to dual monitors; suspect it makes more sense to get better screen now and then get a duplicate later than getting 2 good ones now and replacing them later. Could be wrong though. Won't be going with a triple monitor setup anytime soon. Won't be playing games on both screens; second one is mostly used for multi-tasking. Currently have a 1080p screen (not sure if it's a monitor or a tv; wouldn't want to use it as my primary screen though). 4k is going to be too expensive for me for a long time.
My total budget is ~$2000. It'll probably be a month or two until I bit the bullet and order anything, so if a new generation of something or other comes out soon-ish and I should wait for the relevant price drop or older components, that would be good to know.
Other Items
TRENDnet Wireless AC1750 Dual Band Gigabit Router ($120)
This appears to be a decent+cheapish wireless router. All it really needs to do at the moment is stream video to my Nexus 7 and possibly my laptop. I do want to get NAS at some point though; if I do that I'll probably get a new router, so I'm open to cheaper ones.
Cable Ties
I don't actually have any of these. Would I want to get some for cable management?
Sennheiser HD558, Zalman ZM-Mic1 ($130)
This seems to be the standard recommendation for headphones+mic.
Deck Hassium Pro (~$200-240 w/ shipping)
Fancy backlit mechanical keyboard. I already have a nice mouse (G500s), and I've wanted a nice mechanical keyboard for a while. Deck is pretty much the only game in town for backlit mechanical ones, and barely anyone sells them, so paying AUS->USA shipping is the only way I'm gonna get one.

Is it too late to start mining?

I know this has been asked before, but I haven't found a post asking this very recently. Is it too late to start Bitcoin Mining? If not, can I mine with my gaming PC (GTX 770)? What would be the cost and benefits of Bitcoin mining?
Edit: Frowny face. Apparently I can't make any free, effortless money just by having a strong computer connected to the Internet

Project Phenom is back, this time being cleaner, better, and faster. For those of you who haven't seen v1 (with the original build log), it is located here.
I spent some time upgrading my GPU's, motherboard, fixing my cable management, adding a few aesthetic changes, incorporating my AC network adapter inside my build, and finishing up my entire battlestation.
Please let me know what you guys think of the new look, benchmarks, and setup.

CPU temps I achieved (according to RealTemp, if I read it correctly. Picked highest temp in both min/max):
34C min
71C load
Few interesting features:
  1. Everything is linked together with Corsair link. (For those of you who are unaware of what it is, it detects almost every component in your build, and lets you control most of them, while showcasing the temps.) This is provided by the Corsair AX760i PSU + H100i)
  2. I have remote controlled lighting installed. [Ghetto mounted under PSU, cant be seen after side window is put back on, however. Just the IR receiver. ;) ]
  3. LCD Touch screen fan controller.
  4. Multi SD card slot, with front red LED strip control scroll switch.
  5. Sound dampening foam installed where ever possible.
  6. Dust filters on the front, sides, and bottom. + Optional magnetic dust filter for top, specifically for 300R.
  7. Custom cut full clear side window on Corsair 300R.
  8. Custom laser etched name + signature.
  9. Custom designed braided cables.
Notes:
One of the biggest reasons why I have changed the motherboard ( and somewhat ruined my color scheme) is because the UD4H failed on me TWICE. For whatever reason, it was not capable of basic overclocking and the bios had failed on me, prompting me to take apart my build and replacing it twice. Not a fun experience, but now having the asrock motherboard, I have had nothing but a positive experience. In my last build I had the last generation z77 asrock mobo and also had a great experience with it. Not the best looking motherboard, but in terms of performance and features, it is comparable to some of the highest end (and most expensive) out there.
As for the graphics cards change, I sold them off in the bitcoin rush and made a decent profit. Not only for this reason, however. After doing some benchmarking and listening to the users here, I found out my gpu's to be way too close and hence not being able to cool down properly. Luckily I got my GPU's during a sale with all 3 nvidia games each, which I sold for a overall gpu discount.
Finally, those of you who are wondering how I got some cheap components (some free), none of them are used/refurbs. All brand new. Just got them at great deals. I kept this list pretty accurate. If any of you are looking to find a particular component of mine in the "other" section in the PCPP list below, just click on the direct link to PCPP's website, that is where you will be able to see the component links.

[Build Ready] Got my money saved, time for NEW GPU! Need help picking best for money ~$300 +/-

Hi all!
I've been longingly reading this sub for months, and I FINALLY have enough money saved to upgrade my GPU! I'm replacing my old Radeon HD 5750 (I know, ancient), and I have about $300 to spend. I'm willing to spend a bit more if there is a deal that is too good to pass up. I have a max of $450 to spend right now, but I'd prefer not to spend it all on the GPU. Once I save up the second $300, I want to replace the CPU/MOBO/RAM. I have a case, PSU, optical drives, and HDD I can reuse, so no need to buy those. I may eventually take the leftover parts and make an HTPC, but that is a discussion for another day.
Anyway, I am trying to get the best bang for my buck at around $300. Right now, my research is leading me toward a GTX 770 2GB. I've only ever had Radeon's, but between the Bitcoin mining jacking up the prices and hearing great things bout NVIDIA, I'm wanting to try the other side out. Now, I'm not sure what is the best brand, particular release, etc, as there seem to be so many, or if there is a reason to pay the premium for a Radeon, I'm open to hear it. What do you guys think? Any guidance? My thought is to look for a sale on a 770 and snag one if it drops below $300 or comes with a good game. Anyway, any help or guidance is appreciated!

Is mining off a gaming computer a bad idea?

AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor CPU SPEED: 4.31 GHz SYSTEM MEMORY: 8.48 GB VIDEO CARD MODEL: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 VIDEO CARD MEMORY: 4.23 GB
Never mined before, interested in mining. Is it worth the time or is it too saturated at this point. How much can I expect to mine per year in comparison to a bitcoin optimized gpu miner. Is it better to mine with CPU or GPU?? Could my Hardware be damaged etc

Strangest problem I've ever faced; graphics card Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 stops working shortly after reboot with no error messages. Works properly after one or two driver reinstalls, but only for that session. (xpost /r/techsupport)

Posting this here because I feel you guys might have more insight into specific issues relating to graphics cards:
Microsoft Windows 8.1 Professional (x64) Build 9600
Processor Intel Core i5-4670K
Motherboard ASUS Z87-PRO
Graphics Card GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 770
Alright, so I'm usually pretty good at fixing problems myself, and this is the first time I've ever actually gone out and felt the need to request help for this kind of thing; I'm hoping some of you might've seen this before or might help me towards the right path here.
This card, the GeForce GTX 770 (bought one year ago, never overclocked) was working fine up until two months ago. Suddenly, after every restart, the card works fine for a few minutes before having its performance severely hampered (stuttering, unplayable frame rates in games), however the performance is still slightly superior than when I use my processor for graphics processing.
This is fixable if I reinstall the driver(whether I completely remove the previous drivers or just install over them has not made a difference so far), although sometimes it may take me a second reinstallation for the card to work properly again. From this installation on, the card will work at what seems to me to be top performance, with no noticeable slowdowns that seem out of the ordinary. This state remains indefinitely as long as my computer is on, although some rare times it does break down again.
If I restart my computer, the whole problem starts up again, and its performance deteriorates either immediately after restart or after a couple of minutes within a game.
I've checked error logs in the Event Viewer for the exact times when the card apparently stops functioning(found nothing that could possibly relate), I've checked service status, I've done complete driver reinstalls, I've air-cleaned the case, I've monitored for overheating, I've checked the slotting of the graphics card... I've done everything in my toolbox of problem solving short of reinstalling the OS(hoping I won't have to do that), and can't seem to find an example of similar problem happening to someone else. My thought at this time is that I'll either only be able to fix this by reinstalling the OS, or by buying a new card if this one is busted.
Has anyone seen this before or have any idea of what other troubleshooting steps I could take from this point on?
I'm attaching a summary from HWinfo32 with detailed info about my PC's hardware in case it's useful:
EDIT: This was already solved with the help of CSFFlame on /pcgamingtechsupport
I had a bitcoin mining virus running as wdm.exe in my system. It was located in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\wdm.exe
I entered safe-mode, deleted that file, and checked the rest of my computer for other references to it (none found). The problem seems to be fixed now.

[USA-VA] [H] EVGA GTX 770 Superclocked 2Gb ACX cooler with Backplate [W] Trade (look inside for info), Paypal, Bitcoin

I have an EVGA GTX 770 Superclocked 2GB ACX Cooler with backplate either for sale or trade.
http://imgur.com/xr8XNnZ

Here are the retail values for these 2 items:

Newegg listing for GTX 770 (currently out of stock) / $359.99
EVGA Backplate for 770 / $19.99

Total Retail value: $379.98

This card is in brand new condition, in its original packaging, with all the accessories, and has never been used for mining or anything else besides gaming (and not much at that).
Paypal/Bitcoin: I am looking to get $320 for it + shipping, either on paypal or the equivalent in Bitcoin. This is negotiable, of course.
Trade: Radeon graphics cards (7950, 2x 7850, others), and on the off chance that anyone has some USB Bitcoin miners, then those. I know this isn't likely, but I can hope, right?
I have more pictures if people want to see it running, etc. just without timestamps.

[Build Help] Not sure which GPU to pick

Hey there folks, my friend has essentially given away to me his pc and I am happy with all the specs apart from the graphics cards, so I am looking to upgrade them (2GB Radeon 6950s in crossfire). I have a budget of £200 but I could be flexible and stretch it to around 230ish if its worth it. I am not too knowledgeable about PC's now a days so I am in need of some help. I should mention I am looking to do some hardcore gaming and play most of the new upcoming games at high/ultra setting.... if possbile :)
Here are the specs
-ASUS® P8Z68-V PRO: USB 3.0, SATA 6GB/s, NVIDIA®SLI™, ATI®CrossFireX™
-CORSAIR 850W ENTHUSIAST SERIES™ TX850 V2-80 PLUS® BRONZE
-Intel® Core™i5-2500k Quad Core (3.30GHz, 6MB Cache) + HD Graphics
-I cant find what brand and everything the RAM was but its 8GB ram
I wont be changing any of those specs, but I think its enough to run the newer graphics cards?
I was looking at some pricing and it seems my options are a gtx 770 or a r9 280x ? My friend mentioned possible a used 290 but I am afraid most of those would be used for bitcoin mining and would leave the card damaged maybe? Also I am not sure what all this business is with mantle and should I prioritise an amd card?
I saw this card for £230 and it seems good I think but I have no idea what brands are good for the video cards and it confused me seeing the same card clocked at different speeds and with cooling options. Even when I do pick a card I am not sure which brand to get any links and suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any and all help :)

A few questions

Hey, I wanted to start mining Bitcoins. I already mine a little bit with my GTX 770 but that only averages 230-350mh/s. I was looking at the Asicminer Block Erupter. Are these still any good? Will I be able to make a profit? If so, how much?
