Trying to get my Bitcoin Cash out of Electrum. Is it safe to create an Electron Cash wallet with a still unconfirmed Bitcoin transaction in the original Electrum wallet?
At noon yesterday, I initiated a transfer of my Bitcoin in Electrum to a new Electrum wallet. I am doing this prior to creating an Electron Cash wallet with my original Electrum wallet seed, as is recommended by Electrum. The transaction is still unconfirmed despite using a reasonable fee for the time (although the recommended fee has skyrocketed since). My question is, is it safe and advisable to create an Electron Cash wallet with a still unconfirmed Bitcoin transaction in the original Electrum wallet? Bitcoin wallet 'Electrum' may not be safe, my personal experience
I want to put this out here about my personal experience with Electrum wallet, it may help out other users of Electrum. I was not a huge investor into Bitcoin, but the idea of boundary-less money made me invest my time and money(40$ exactly) into Bitcoin. I had bought 40$(U.S) worth of bitcoin back in 2014 and I chose Electrum to be my wallet as it didn't download the entire blockchain. I decided to take a break from Bitcoin in the year 2015, so I transferred all my private keys into cold storage(a hard drive). I had to do a full format of my PC back then due to some reason, so it was all the more better to quit using Bitcoin for a while. I was happy that I have some bitcoins on me and that it's absolutely safe with my in my hard drive, until last week. I found these backup files last week and I decided to install Electrum again, only to find all my bitcoins gone! Everything was sent to some address in the US in the year 2016. I searched and found this out. There is no way for me to find out who stole my Bitcoins, and here I am in my office posting this rant. I am seriously disappointed with Electrum and who ever created it. I am highly suspicious that it is the creator of Electrum who stole the private keys through some means. I highly suggest that you quit using 'Electrum' if that is the wallet of your choice - before it's too late. TL;DR: I stored my private keys in a hard drive, yet my money was stolen. Electrum was the only wallet I ever used.
Before the split, I had my bitcoins on Electrum. After the split, are my Bitcoin Cash safe and will they remain safe?
